Small Living for a Big Life

Are you feeling stressed and maybe a little scattered? Take a look around your house. Are there piles of things everywhere? If you are anything like me, these stacks of doodads can creep into your subconscious, making your brain feel disorganized and uneasy. I actually wasn’t aware that too many items were causing me stress until I was forced to take a hard look at my belongings. Close to ten years ago my husband and I downsized our lives dramatically: moving from a 1600sq ft house with a two car garage to a 480sq ft dry cabin (this means we don't have running water). Obviously, a move of this nature required drastic action, which was scary at first. But once I started the purging process I couldn’t believe how thrilling it was! I felt absolutely giddy with freedom. Living in a tiny home requires a vigilance to the pressures of consumerism. (Amazon Prime makes this a serious challenge…) Being aware of our tendency to want more things is the first step. Then, when those things start to accumulate on surfaces and bulge out of closets, it’s time for the next step. Purge! I know you can do it. I believe you will find that living small leads to a peaceful mind and a bigger life!
