Sacred Mornings: My Hour of Power
/I love morning time: the quiet, the peace, the unlimited potential of starting anew. I heard the term "hour of power" on a podcast a few years ago and I thought it was the perfect way to describe my morning rituals. I've always been an early riser, but it wasn't until fairly recently that I realized the power in an intentional start to the day. I now know that I create every single day with my thoughts and actions upon rising. There are so many beautiful ways to begin a day; I will share my routine as an example.
When I first wake up (I haven't needed an alarm clock since transitioning to a primal lifestyle) I smile and express gratitude for my cozy bed and my gorgeous night's sleep. After a big glass of water I do some form of movement (yoga, Gymnastic Bodies, primal essential movements, sprints).
Next is meditation. I recommend an app like Calm or Headspace to get started. Practicing meditation has been truly life-changing. Sitting in stillness has taught me that in every moment I have the opportunity to choose my thoughts, words, and actions. It has helped me become less reactionary and more calm. I feel like I operate from a state of effortless flow now, which is absolutely lovely.
My third ritual is journaling or scripting. Sometimes I write about all of the glorious goodness in my life and sometimes I write from the perspective of my future self. My coach, Ginny Gane, introduced me to this idea. While scripting I really feel the wonderful things about which I am writing. It is a joyous experience AND it creates my future!
After my hour of power I feel absolutely unstoppable. I can honestly say that I haven't had a "bad" day since becoming intentional about my mornings. And now that the weather is warm(ish) and the mornings are light I can even go outside for my hour of power! This has really ramped up my morning glow.
